PRESBYTERIAN SENIORCARE NETWORK

Presbyterian SeniorCare Network | 2022 COMMUNITY REPORT 5 In November 2022, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency announced that Presbyterian SeniorCare Network would receive more than $4 million in tax credits to build an LGBTQ-friendly senior housing community in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The new affordable, LGBTQ-friendly community is part of the Network’s ongoing commitment to serve the needs of all older adults in western Pennsylvania. Jim Pieffer, president and CEO of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network, expressed gratitude for the funding, noting that the Network still has work to do to reach its funding goal. The $4 million in credits is expected to leverage an estimated $14 million in investment for the project. Anticipated cost for the total development ranges between $26-27 million. The project, located at the western entrance to Oakland’s business district, has secured zoning and planning approvals from the City of Pittsburgh. If all goes according to plan, construction should begin in fall 2023 with completion and occupancy in winter 2025. The Network is working with members of the LGBTQ community, Affirmative Investments, Persad Center and others on the project. There is a strong need and demand for this kind of affordable senior housing option, and it will be the first of its kind in Western Pennsylvania.
