PRESBYTERIAN SENIORCARE NETWORK

Presbyterian SeniorCare Network | 2022 COMMUNITY REPORT 1 T he realities of the past few years have necessitated looking at things differently—reimagining today’s Presbyterian SeniorCare Network and how we deliver our services. Post-COVID realities and an uncertain economy created one of the more— if not the most —challenging years in our organization’s history. We faced escalating costs and a labor shortage, either of which alone could have broken an organization. Our annual report offers insight to how we anticipated, planned for and responded to these challenges and opportunities. The Network survived through the strength of our mission, the steadfast support of our Board of Directors, the commitment of our incredible team members and the love and support of our community. Reimagining: A New Perspective Presbyterian SeniorCare Network has always been regarded as a forward-thinking organization, and we value the trust that others place in us to guide them through uncertain times. To continue to earn that trust, we are asking ourselves what strengths we need to leverage to thrive in the years and decades ahead. Inspired by our value of innovation, we are reimagining new opportunities as we recommit to our mission. The focus of our reimagined work is our Center for Innovation and Care Transformation (CICT) . The CICT isn’t bricks and mortar; it is a foundational approach to transforming the care experience for older adults. It is a network of coordinated care and services for the individuals we serve, all with a goal of Making Aging Easier ® . In its earliest stage, CICT already has implemented Healthwise, an online resource for health and wellness information; has begun to open onsite, primary care clinics for our residents in affordable housing in early 2023; and has expanded our dementia care services, including Dementia360. Adapting for the Future As we look beyond today, we are planning for a world that we know will require us to think differently. We will have significantly more adults over the age of 85 and their financial resources will be less than our current population. In anticipation of that reality, we are evaluating and repositioning our properties; examining future pricing strategies; and identifying underserved markets—all to affirm our commitment to aging services. One such underserved population is the LGBTQ community. I am thrilled that our Oakland Pride project will provide a welcoming, supportive environment for LGBTQ older adults. To be located in Pittsburgh’s medical and educational epicenter, Oakland Pride will eliminate the isolation and barriers to care that members of this community often experience. An early 2025 opening is projected for this new affordable senior community. Welcoming Tomorrow Grounded in our mission and strengthened by the foresight of our Boards of Directors and our leadership, the future of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network remains promising, especially as we celebrate our 95th anniversary in 2023. Thank you for your support as we journey to a reimagined future. Sincerely, Jim Pieffer President and Chief Executive Officer LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT AND CEO
