Presbyterian SeniorCare Network | 2022 COMMUNITY REPORT 9 In 2022, we were pleased to announce the appointment of new chairpersons for two of our boards of directors, while also honoring the long service of the immediate past chairs. A t the May 13th Board meeting, WILLIAM J. BATES, FAIA, NOMA , was appointed as chair of the Presbyterian SeniorCare Board of Directors. The board provides oversight and governance for the organization and its affiliates, and has 14 active members and five emeritus directors. Bill has served on the board since 2004, including service as vice chair during the past five years. “I appreciate Presbyterian SeniorCare Network and its inclusive and caring focus on aging,” Bill said. “It’s a great organization doing some wonderful things. It’s one of the best boards I’ve ever served on.” Bill is a retired corporate architect who has experience in global corporate real estate and property management. He has served as a partner in an architectural practice, a corporate design manager, a bank vice president, a high-tech startup executive and restaurant chain executive. He is passionate about diversity, as well as the built and natural environment. After receiving his bachelor’s of architecture from Notre Dame, Bill studied construction management at Pennsylvania State University and Harvard University. He was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from Boston Architectural College. Bill currently teaches at Carnegie Mellon University. Bill succeeded Laura Synnott , who had served as chair of the Presbyterian SeniorCare board the past five years with 17 total years of board service. She retired from the board in December 2022. T he Presbyterian SeniorCare Foundation appointed SCOTT PIPITONE , CEO and founder, Pipitone, as chair of the Foundation Board of Directors. Scott has served on this board for more than a dozen years. The 11-member Foundation Board raises funds to support the mission and vision of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network. “I know first-hand the value of the Foundation’s work and mission,” Scott says. “The Foundation has strong leadership, through both talented team members and an effective board. I look forward to leading the board as the Foundation continues its evolution to be an even stronger asset to Presbyterian SeniorCare Network and the community.” Scott said he plans to draw upon his three decades of experience in integrated marketing. His list of priorities includes developing strategic messaging, building upon the culture of stewardship and philanthropy and expanding the role of networking and referrals for the Foundation. Scott succeeded Bill Campbell , who had served as chair of the Foundation board for six years, a member of the board since 2003, and who remains an active director.
